Lake Sylvester Trail August 7, 2007

Dave and I headed up to the little traveled Lake Sylvester trail. Dave had just been up here a couple weeks before on a backpack trip with a friend of his and his friend caught a few large trout. So, I was anxious to try my hand at a little fly fishing. This is a pretty steep trail and we had to do some route finding and scrambling on boulders even though Dave had just been here. It was actually fun climbing on the boulders.

It did get pretty windy and cold up there. So, I didn't fish for long before my hands got too cold to keep going. I did catch a nice sized cutthroat trout though. I was having a little difficulty trying to take a picture while holding it up. I didn't want to contaminate it too much since I planned on releasing it. So I was trying to avoid holding it while taking the picture. I got the picture just before it broke loose, taking my fly with it.
