Saddle Rock Trail March 26, 2007

Dave and I hiked up the Saddle Rock trail since is was one of the few places clear of snow. We started from the racquetball club off Skyline drive. We hiked up to Saddle Rock and then took a spur trail that headed along another ridge west of the trail. This trail went quite a ways. We turned around about a mile and a half out and then hiked down the other end of the trail to the Saddle Rock trail head by the horse arena. Then went around the base to make a loop. Near the very end, we ended up coming out in someone's backyard and had to walk the skyline drive road to the car. There is one section just before the power line tower when there are so many little trails it is hard to find the trail that will take you back to the main trail.

A herd of deer along the west ridge from the Saddle Rock trail
We hiked along a ridge that spurs off from the Saddle Rock trail and heads west for a long way. Along it we saw a herd of deer.
