Douglas Creek April 9, 2008

Cindy offered to lead us on this trip to her childhood playgrounds around Douglas Creek in the Palisades area. The Palisades is a beautifully landscaped canyon with high columnar cliffs surrounding a peaceful desert valley. Douglas creek is a lovely spring fed creek with many pools and falls widing through the rock walls. We had to walk the road almost from the beginning of Wagon road due to the creek crossing the road at a higher level than we wanted to drive the cars through. I'm guessing it's about a mile and a half to where you start to see the falls. It was a warm sunny day, perfect for a stroll while visiting with friends. We stopped down by where the old railroad bridge used to be and ate lunch. The ticks were out, but we didn't get too many on us. There were a lot of small trout in the creek and I was having a hard time concentrating on anything other than watching the fish jump. That really gave me the fishing itch! I defintely have to do more fishing this summer.
